School Based Event

With COVID-19 came a change in strategy. We thought would it not be better for Schools to tell us what teachers and their students’ needs are in relation to events, training, and demonstrations. With this ‘Event Request’ strategy the Gateway program can deliver events that are needed and relevant to student & teacher’s needs. In 2021 the Gateway program delivered 69 industry training events in schools; we would love to create the perfect industry-based training event for your school.

 

Below are some suggestions on our most requested training events by schools however, we are always happy to a create a specific industry event and training experience for your school on request:

Indigenous Cooking Demonstration

This was an exceedingly popular event with our schools, where Dale would come to your school to discuss native ingredients and do a cooking demonstration. With her enthusiastic and charismatic charm Dale is a great presenter Industry personality we can arrange to visit your school.

Barista Demonstration

Owning to the nature of barista training, advanced training can only be done with a small group. Last year we had teacher attend advanced barista courses and students would have a demonstration for an hour or 2. This upskilling of Teachers has help them pass on relevant industry knowledge to their students.

Tourism leader talk

Are you looking for a local tourism leader to address your students, we can help arrange this where possible we do the hard yards and find a relevant industry person in your area. This is an opportunity for industry interaction and networking.

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)

QCWT is offering an online RSA which is funded by Gateway, this qualification is essential for working with alcohol and will put your students on the front foot to enter the industry. Your student is more likely to be noticed by a potential employer with this necessity under their belt. This is Gateway funded however we ask that Schools complete a Memorandum of Cooperation, where this is online it does require the teachers to guide the students over the line and ensure they complete the course. We ask that time is put aside out of the school week to ensure that Students can complete this.
