1. What tourism and/or hospitality course are you currently studying at school?

Currently, I am studying Cert II in Kitchen Operations.

2. How did the Gateway to Industry 3-day Work Experience Program at Royal Pines Resort in 2023 shape/influence your passion for hospitality?

The Gateway to Industry Work Experience Program at Royal Pines Resort provided me with a firsthand glimpse into the world of Hospitality. I had the opportunity to interact with numerous kind and knowledgeable individuals.

3. What was your biggest learning experience from the work experience at Royal Pines?

My most significant learning experience was receiving the Royal Pines Resort’s comprehensive tour. This encompassed both their back-of-house and front-of-house facilities.

4. What have you found most rewarding so far from any involvement in industry training experiences offered to you (this can include, your school-based Café, school events, or part-time work)?

The most rewarding aspect of my involvement in industry training has been achieving RSA certification. This allowed me to work in the bar and learn the art of drink-making.

 

5. What skills from the work experiences/programs you have participated in will help you when applying for your future dream job? (e.g. Customer service skills etc.)

I have developed the ability to collaborate seamlessly with experienced staff in a real working environment. Additionally, my refined customer service skills will undoubtedly be an asset.

6. What advice would you give someone considering studying tourism and hospitality?

I would advise them to “Find something that your soul is happy doing.”

7. Do you have any career plans or ambitions upon graduating Year 12? (This could include further study, finding employment in a certain industry?)

Upon graduating Year 12, I aim to find employment or secure an apprenticeship, building on the opportunities I’ve encountered during my studies.
