Meet Ellie

Currently studying Certificate II in Tourism, Ellie enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the Gateway to Industry Royal Pines Resort 3-day work experience program to put what she has learnt in the classroom into practical experience.

1.What tourism and/or hospitality course are you currently studying at school?

I am currently studying certificate two in Tourism.

2. How did the Gateway to Industry 3-day Work Experience Program at Royal Pines Resort in 2022 shape/influence your passion for hospitality?

It gave me the opportunity to experience what working in tourism and hospitality is really like and has driven my passion to work in the industry even more.

3. What was your biggest learning experience from the work experience at Royal Pines?

Seeing how the people treated each other and how everyone worked together.

4. What have you found most rewarding so far from any involvement industry training experiences offered to you (this can include, school based Café or part time work)?

I have found the relationships with customers and staff the most rewarding part of working in the industry.

5. What skills from the experiences/programs you have participated in will help you when applying for your future dream job? eg. Customer service skills etc.

The customer service skills and learning to work in an environment with lots of people will help me succeed in my future jobs.

6. What advice would you give someone considering studying tourism and hospitality?

Definitely do it as it is very rewarding.

7. Do you have any career plans or ambitions upon graduating Year 12? (this could include further study, finding employment in a certain industry?)

Hopefully something in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Destination Managers

Overview
